The Plumbing Permit Fee Grant Program is in place to provide residents with financial support for improvements made to homes to reduce the risk of basement flooding.

Program Coverage

The program covers the cost of a building permit for:

1. The installation of a backwater valve
2. The installation of a sump pump
3. The repair or replacement of a sanitary line (only with the installation of a backwater valve)

How to Apply

The program will automatically waive building permit fees once it approves the building permit applications.

Note: If multiple items of work are proposed (i.e. a backwater valve, a sump pump, and the repair or replacement of a sanitary line) applicants need to submit only one building permit application form, and the location and details of all work can be shown on the same floor plan.
