Mississauga has temporarily reduced development charges (DCs) for residential projects.

Developers can receive a 50 per cent reduction in DCs for all residential unit types, and a 100 per cent reduction in DCs for purpose-built rental apartments. The 100 per cent DC reduction applies to one-bedroom-plus-den, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom rental apartments.

Developers must pull a building permit for footings and foundations before December 31, 2027, for the DC reduction to apply.

Peel Region’s Development Charges Grant Program

Peel Region provides temporary DC grants-in-lieu equal to 50 per cent of the payable DCs for eligible new residential developments.

Peel Region will officially terminate the DC Grant on November 13, 2026.

Developers must apply for the Development Charges Incentive Program and the Development Charges Grant Program. The program’s objective is to improve housing affordability for home buyers.
